Great teamwork among the SERENA partners towards the preparation of a successful system demonstrator is ongoing. In particular, Infineon provided full evaluation boards for both the BEAMER39 IC as well as the respective evaluation board for its proprietary up/down conversion IC to be used as an interface between the RF front-end and the baseband processing module. The picture shows the two evaluation boards in a first test setup provided by TUB. Moreover, IFAT is working towards the reduction of power consumption for the RF front-end module by investigating its newly developed advanced 90 nm SiGe process that provides significantly superior electrical characteristics suited for mmWave integrated circuit design.
