SERENA Newsletter Issue 5
This newsletter provides an overview of the main achievements and results reached within the SERENA project. The focus is on the embedding of GaN-on-Si MMIC in PCB and the embedding of SiGe RFIC in PCB and calibration as well as on the multiphysics co-simulation. Another key topic is about the realisation of GaN-on-Si multifunctional single-chip front-end MMICs. Finally, the newsletter provides an overview of various dissemination activities, such as the impact video, several podcasts and thematic workshops that were performed.

Podcast with Giuseppe Caire and Thomas Kuehne from TU Berlin
SERENA partners are exploring the use of high frequencies for data delivery. Using gallium nitride on silicon as a means to develop high performance millimeter-wave active antenna systems, at a commercially viable price-point while remaining energy efficient is at the heart of SERENA. In this episode we speak with SERENA partners Giuseppe Caire and Thomas Kuehne from the Technische Universität Berlin. August 2021

Podcast with Christian Fager from CHALMERS
5G is definitely a solution to deliver faster, higher quality video and multimedia content services, but there is still quite a bit of work to be done. Christian Fager will talk about SERENA's role related to new, smarter and more efficient antennas delivering these signals. Partners in SERENA are looking at using gallium nitride alongside traditional silicon to enable beam steering antennas. The goal is to develop an architecture which is small and cost efficient with robust thermal management schemes.
